This sounds right up my alley. I spent a lot of time coming up with stories and activities to help my students who were at risk for reading and writing disabilities. And, many of my books were written with these goals in mind. NOW, here is an excellent workshop created by Dr. Courtney Overton.

When I contacted her, this was her rationale for this training seminar. “As a speech-language pathologist, I created this workshop to bridge the gap between what we know from research and what’s happening in our schools. Too often, children with reading and writing challenges don’t get the right support early enough. This event brings together SLPs and educators to learn practical, evidence-based tools that make a difference inside and outside the classroom.”

What I like is that the subject matter is very comprehensive. It is a 4-part speaker series that will focus on evidence-based identification and treatment of reading and writing disabilities with expert presentations on dyslexia, phonemic awareness, language comprehension, metacognition, and structured literacy in diverse settings.

This seminar is a one-day professional development event designed for speech-language pathologists and educators who support students with reading and writing disabilities. It can be in person or online.
